The Center for Men and Boys in Social Policy…
…is a dynamic, innovative, multi-faceted resource for social service providers and policy makers. Our purpose is help you discover and address the ways stereotypes and prejudices about men and boys may be costing you time, money and effort — and inadvertently harming people who need your help.
Service providers and policy makers often fail to note the disadvantages and special challenges of being male. They may see unfortunate male behavior as merely inherent in the way males are. They may think “That’s the way it’s always been. We can’t change that.”
Or perhaps their reaction is “It’s a man’s world. Men have it easy. They don’t have special problems. And if they do, it’s their own fault.”
Our society made similar mistakes years ago when it first started considering sexism against women and girls. Fortunately, we learned to pay attention. Now it's time to do the same for men and boys.
There are no easy answers, no panaceas, but an enlightened, progressive understanding of male gender issues may be the missing ingredient for the solutions you need.
