Juvenile Services
Gender-specific services are defined in federal laws as “services that address the unique needs of the individual recipient’s gender but [they] have largely been interpreted to mean services that are designed specifically for girls,” one researcher observed. See, for instance, the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services "Gender Responsive Services."
“Of course, boys have gender, too; however, this fact is often neglected.”
The Center for Men and Boys in Social Policy can help you design programs and services that: meet the unique needs of male offenders • value the male perspective • celebrate and honor the male experience • respect and take into account male development • empower boys and young men to reach their full human potential • work to change established attitudes that prevent or discourage boys from recognizing their potential.
